What is Talent Search?

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded TRIO program. Through early intervention and with the services provided, ETS encourages students to remain in school, graduate from high school, and pursue college or
vocational/ technical education.
 
ETS serves students in middle school, high school, and those with a desire to return to school. All services are FREE and provided by trained, professional staff.

Who May Apply?

  • One must be at least 11 years old and have completed the fifth grade

  • A middle school student

  • A high school student

  • An adult interested in receiving a GED or going back to college

  • A potential first generation (neither parent has received a bachelor's degree)

  • A veteran

How Do I Apply?

To participate in the Educational Talent Search Program, you and your parent (s) or guardian need to complete application materials. Adults may complete their own application. The ETS staff will review the application then notify you. Applicants will be selected for program participation in compliance with the provision of Section 427 of the US Department of Education's General Education Provision Act (GEPA). Accordingly, access and participation will not be denied to applicants based in gender, race, national origin, color, or disability.

One of the ways to be successful in college is to prepare during high school.  

A rigorous high school curriculum will:    

  • Help you acquire the knowledge needed for college courses

  • Open up additional scholarship opportunities

Rigorous Curriculum Criteria

English

  •  4 Units of English, One each year

Math

  • 3 units of Math including Algebra I and a higher-level Class

Science

  • 3 units of science including chemistry, biology, and physics

Social Science

  • 3 units of social science, one each year

Foreign language

  • One year of any language other than English
